Fired ceramic hand-painted with acrylics. This series merges threatened animals from the IUCN Red List into single organisms to highlight global habitat loss. To make a heavy topic easy to digest, I sculpt these creatures with a friendly, nostalgic, teddy bear-like aesthetic. This approachable design invites viewers to connect deeply with wildlife conservation rather than turning away from it. This piece combines a Hirola and an Arctic Fox. Hirolas (Beatragus hunteri) are Critically Endangered; fewer than 500 individuals remain in the wild due to severe habitat loss, disease, and competition with domestic livestock in East Africa. The Arctic Fox (Vulpes lagopus) is considered Near Threatened at the regional European level, facing an increasingly high risk of local extinction as rapid climate change shrinks its native frozen tundra and allows competing species to move north.
