Fired ceramic with glossy glaze and mixed media accents

This sculptural display mask draws its dramatic inspiration from the timeless Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera. The hand-sculpted form features a striking asymmetrical layout, where a smooth, flat white side mimics the shape of the iconic phantom mask before giving way to a lush cascade of rich red faux roses spilling down the opposite side. Along the lower chin, delicate musical staffs are carved directly into the surface, grounding the piece in its theatrical roots. Part of a larger series dedicated to my relationship with my mother—who passed down her lifelong love of theater and storytelling—this non-wearable, functional display mask beautifully balances sculptural pottery, textured mixed media, and deep personal memory.
