This sculptural display mask translates the powerful emotional landscape of the Broadway musical Rent into a striking visual tribute. The hand-sculpted form features a deep glossy indigo top section that dramatically drips down over a muted gray base, while white feathered wings emerge from the temples. Engraved along the lower chin is the iconic theatrical lyric no day but today. Part of a larger series dedicated to my relationship with my mother—who passed down her lifelong love of theater and storytelling—this non-wearable, functional display mask stands as a deeply personal exploration of memory, familial legacy, and the transformative power of the performing arts.
