This hand-sculpted piece introduces Sid, a whimsical axolotl character styled in a tiny top hat with a real fabric ribbon. Beyond its playful, storybook charm, this sculpture serves as a vital milestone in my portfolio as the original inspiration for my ongoing endangered species combination series. Creating Sid sparked my deep passion for using approachable, nostalgic characters to advocate for threatened wildlife. By blending a highly endangered aquatic salamander with a classic theatrical aesthetic, this foundational work bridges the gap between imaginative character design and a lifelong commitment to global conservation awareness.
